Your calculations stay on your device

BioSyn calculators run entirely in your web browser. When you enter a mass, a volume, a molecular weight or a DNA sequence, the calculation happens locally on your device using JavaScript that is already loaded on the page. We do not transmit your inputs, your results, your sequences or any experimental data to our servers or to any third party.There is no account, no login and no database storing what you calculate.

Because nothing is uploaded, you can use the tools offline once the page has loaded, and you can close the tab without leaving any calculation record behind.

Information we may collect indirectly

We do not ask for personal information and do not run our own tracking. Like most websites, some technical data is handled automatically by the infrastructure that serves the site and by the advertising and analytics services described below. This can include your approximate region, browser and device type, the pages you visit and standard cookies. We use it only to keep the site running, to understand which tools are useful and to fund the site through advertising.

BioSyn is free to use and is supported by display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which calculators are used most. Analytics measure aggregate page behaviour; they never capture the values you type into a calculator, because those values are processed locally and are not sent anywhere.

Third-party links

Calculator pages cite external scientific sources (NIST, NEB, Promega and similar). Those links open in a new tab and carry rel="nofollow". Once you leave BioSyn, the privacy practices of the destination website apply, and we are not responsible for their content or policies.

Children

BioSyn is an educational and research tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or its advertising and analytics providers change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of BioSyn after a change means you accept the updated policy.
